Matt Wiles

Matt has been teaching professionally since 2008. Specializing in bass guitar, upright bass, and music theory, Matt teaches students of all levels from beginner to professional. Matt’s curriculum emphasizes the development of a diverse knowledge of musical styles (jazz, rock, pop, and beyond) and concepts (music reading, theory, improvisation, etc.) while tailoring to the individual goals of any student. At the CMA, Matt’s students will also have the opportunity to perform recitals in a live band setting with both their peers and professional players.

Upon graduating in 2012 from Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Arts in music, Matt has been performing professionally ever since. He can be heard on stage with guitarist/composer Brandon Coleman’s Fourth Kind, jazz/rock/fusion
band Spherical Agenda, renowned saxophonist/pianist Randy Villars, and many others. His playing is featured on many singles, albums, and videos, as well as soon to be released albums by Spherical Agenda, Fourth Kind, and Sam Blakeslee. Matt has performed with highly acclaimed artists such as Snarky Horns, Gary Versace, Colin Stranahan, Noah Preminger, Joel Frahm, JD Allen, Fareed Haque, Peter Mazza, Dan Wilson, Teddy Kumpel, Glenn Zaleski, Victor Provost, Bobby Selvaggio, Sam Blakeslee, and The Drifters.
