Brian Batchelor-Glader

Brian Batchelor-Glader enjoys teaching traditional piano lessons to children and adults from beginning to intermediate classical piano and advanced jazz piano. He is a professional gigging musician in the tri-state area and has performed all around the world, including the U.S., Ireland, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. He really loves teaching improvisation to all ages of students. His students range in age from 6 to 83.

Lessons are tailored to student’s individual interests. All students are taught basic technique, theory, and sight reading from lesson books. They are also encouraged to choose their own supplementary music, which can be anything from pop songs to jazz. Jazz students are taught advanced harmonic theory and ear training as well as how to read lead sheets (chord charts).

Students perform in two recitals a year and are encouraged to perform in other settings.

Brian received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he studied jazz piano under Philip DeGreg. He has also studied classical music with Cleveland State piano professor Dan Barber. Other jazz mentors have been Dan Wall at Oberlin and Russell Schmidt at Bowling Green. In high school and college Brian performed in OMEA all-state jazz groups and was an award winning jazz pianist in competitions.

Brian is an active performer as a jazz and pop pianist. He performs with Dan Radank (a.k.a. Old Green Eyes) at the Hard Rock Casino and other venues. He also performs with the latin jazz group Mambo Combo led by bassist Mike Sharfe. In addition to that he performs rock and pop music with Floyd and the Walkmen at weddings, private parties, and public concerts.

Brian loves spending time with his wife and kids. He enjoys fantasy films and novels such as Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. John Williams is his favorite film composer.
