CMA is unique from most music schools in that its entire faculty operates independently. Rather than micro-managing each student and studio, CMA gives its teachers the freedom to develop a more personal relationship with students and families. As a result, CMA is home to some of the most experienced and highly regarded private teachers in the region.
The benefit to students is easily apparent. In a field where many inexperienced and unqualified teachers can simply make a website or place an ad to make extra cash on the side, CMA is a school where the teachers have dedicated their careers to music education and take pride in the success of their students.
Take a look at our faculty and you will see they all have college degrees in music and already had years of professional teaching experience when they joined CMA. Many of these teachers are also affiliated with one or more professional organizations, including:
- Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)
- Ohio Music Teachers Association (OMTA)
- Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA)
- Ohio Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC)
- National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC)
Many Cincinnati Music Academy teachers offer enhanced experiences to their students by participating in enrichment programs such as:
- Student recitals
- Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Exams
- OMTA events including Piano Play-a-thon, Masquerade Musicale, Buckeye Competition, Auditions Festival, Ensemble Event and more
- Junior Music Festival
- Concerto and other competitions
Cincinnati Music Academy, LLC (CMA) was started in 1997 by three Cincinnati music teachers — Amy Rose Immerman, Paul McCready and Lenore Wilkinson. Their objective in starting CMA was to provide high-quality music education in a friendly, productive environment for their students and an appropriate business atmosphere for themselves and other independent Cincinnati music teachers.
After the death of Lenore Wilkinson in 2006, Lenore’s husband Wayne Wilkinson, become a CMA co-owner. Wayne had been an active participant in the development and growth of Cincinnati Music Academy since its founding. Wayne died in 2008, leaving Paul McCready and Amy Immerman as co-owners. In 2015, Joel Greenberg became a third co-owner after teaching and managing at CMA since 2002. In 2023, Amy Immerman and Paul McCready left ownership of CMA and Natasha Pence entered into a partnership with Joel Greenberg to co-own CMA.
CMA is located at 7420 Montgomery Road in Silverton, one mile west of the Kenwood Towne Center.
CMA started with four studios in a single suite at its old location of 7777 Montgomery Road and expanded over the next decade to include over 20 studios before relocating to a larger facility at 7420 Montgomery Road.
CMA is convenient to Interstate 71 and to several major roads. It is located just a few minutes from the more than 200 shops in Kenwood Towne Centre mall and Sycamore Plaza, plus dozens of nearby stores. Go here for a map and driving directions.
As CMA’s teachers are independent businesspeople; they determine their own policies, teaching programs and methods, schedules, and price structures. CMA has no control over these and is not responsible for them.
