Piano Instructor

Shireen McKenzie, M.M.

Shireen Ardeshir McKenzie has studied and performed music on three continents. She is a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, London, has a Bachelor of Music, Summa cum laude, from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, as well as a Master’s degree in Piano Performance. She also studied and performed for two years in Florence, Italy.

Mrs. McKenzie is nationally certified by the Music Teacher’s National Association, and has been teaching Piano and Theory in Cincinnati for over thirty years. She has chaired committees for the Ohio Music Teachers’ Association, was a judge coordinator, and has adjudicated competitions, auditions, and festivals.

Her aim is to engender a life-long love of music in her students. Some of them have become professional pianists and teachers; others make music for fun. She is primarily a Classical teacher, but prefers her pupils to follow their passion and be proficient in various genres. She teaches piano, theory, sight-reading, and aural skills, and encourages her students to compose and improvise. They have opportunities to play in festivals and competitions when they are ready to do so.

Mrs. McKenzie offers a one-on-one weekly lesson tailored to the needs of each individual, group lessons and Master Classes, and two to four recitals a year. She loves what she does, and so do her students!
