Niko Kordalis

Niko works with students of all skill levels. He is great at making the guitar fun for kids and enjoys working with teenagers and adults as well.  He specializes in teaching rock, pop, jazz, and other common styles. In his studio, beginners and casual students can count on a patient teacher who will deconstruct difficult elements into simple lessons. More adventurous and advanced learners will be challenged to excel by learning new techniques, musical genres, improvising, and more. Niko stresses the development formal music skills through learning theory and how to read music, but also loves teaching students how to “make music on the fly” and learn the songs they have always wanted to play.

Although guitar is his primary instrument, Niko also teaches electric bass, ukulele, and saxophone.

Niko has been performing on the guitar and saxophone since he was a teenager. He has studied music theory, music history, composition, piano, recording techniques. In 2014, Niko received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Performance from the Jazz Studies Program at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music.  There he played with the Jazz Lab Band under the direction of Dominic Marino and in the combos of leading Cincinnati Jazz musicians including Marc Fields, Scott Belck, and John Von Ohlen.

Niko has been educated in music theory, music history, composition, basic keyboard skills, basic recording techniques, and general performance practices.  This background allows Niko to teach beginners of any age or further the education and skills of advanced guitar players in a variety of musical styles.

Niko is an active musician in the Cincinnati and Dayton music scene and often performs Blues, Rock, Funk, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Jazz in various venues.
