Guitar Students Raise Money for Lighthouse Youth

Music not only soothes the soul, it’s a tool for healing at Lighthouse Youth & Family Services. At the Pleasant Ridge location, Lighthouse houses girls 13-18, all of whom are victims of trauma. A grant to provide the girls with music therapy was running out of money. The CEO of Lighthouse Youth & Family services, Paul Haffner, is a guitar student with Joel Greenberg at CMA. Paul and other students from Joel’s studio all performed an Unplugged Concert at Fretboard Brewing in March.

In an amazing display of generosity, CMA students, friends, staff, and guests put $340 cash into an open guitar case on the stage. Lighthouse had secured an anonymous 2x matching donor (who wanted to see Paul take the stage) so the students effectively raised $1,020 on a Sunday afternoon strumming guitars. Combined with other gifts received, the Lighthouse now has stable funding for the program

Thank you to everyone who contributed!
